Recharging

Description

This was more of an experiment than anything.  A sort of sci-fi noir scene from one of those old, hardened black-and-white films - a quiet moment hidden within the action to ponder what has happened thus far or just to recollect your thoughts after the world has crashed down on your shoulders.  This picture is called "Recharging", but can be interpreted freely - any number of things may be happening here.

This was also an experiment in Manga Studio Debut 4, as I've never really made a serious effort at drawing with that program.  Rather happy with it, but I wish that the cables (tubes??) looked better... Granted, I was putting more focus on the subject and her retrospective state of mind rather than the machinery. (Hence why there's hatch marks everywhere instead of a fully-fledged background to fill the white space.)

So, what do you think is happening here?

The last time I was in California I took my granddaughter to her "Aerial Art Class."  It takes place in a big circus-like tent with many different colors of silk clothes hanging from the ceiling (rope like).  The participants do all sorts of climbing, swinging, and dancing on these ropes- very beautiful.
Your beautiful, well done art work somewhat reminds me of this type of event.  The girl performed her event.  She is now sitting and recalling her performance and reliving every second.

A more deep thought of what is happening here or another interpretation is the "pull" I feel between the figure being pulled to a higher place or stand in life (or perhaps a better choice), and the negative pull to stay put in life or to stay where she is in life.   She may even be contemplating make a decision that may "slide her down."    She is in a way in her own world with her decisions in life as evidenced by the hatch marks.  She has a lot of help being pulled to a better life, but to slide down she may be all alone - the ropes as a pull up vs the blank space below.

I would rather have been able to talk to you about this instead of writing it, but since that is not possible I did my best at writing my interpretation.  I really think this art work is very well done and it says a lot to me.  Very well done, Clara!!!!!
